Become a Locavore! Seasonal Harvest helps you determine what locally grown produce is in season in your area. Select a state or use GPS to view in season produce. Nutritional experts, environmentalists, and economists agree: eating local foods in season is beneficial for your body, local farmers, and the environment.
After you launch Seasonal Harvest, tap on “Locate” to see a list seasonal fruits and vegetables in your state. Each food is listed with how many months are left in their respective season. Tapping on any food brings up options of viewing that food’s seasonal information, recipes using that food, and a direct link to that food’s Wikipedia article.
Selecting the Menu key brings up the option of “Local Farmers Markets.” This option links you directly to your Android’s mapping application; the application will automatically search for farmers markets near your GPS location. You can also view the seasonal information for any state.
