Apple [AAPL] has announced details of how to get hold of a free iPhone 4 case. Rather than ordering via the Apple website, you actually install a free app on your iPhone 4 called the “iPhone 4 Case Program”. When you have download the application on the iPhone 4 you can run it, log in with your iTunes username and password and then select from a list of several different iPhone 4 cases.
When you find the case you want, you select it and then confirm the shipping details that should already populate the form from your iTunes account. Hit confirm and a message appears saying your order is confirmed.
Shipping on the cases that I looked at was around 3 – 5 weeks.
Let us know if you have any problems getting hold of the app and if you are happy with the solution Apple has put in place.
Just remember that if you ordered your iPhone 4 before today you need to make sure you apply for a free case by August 22 at the latest…
For iPhone 4 purchases made before July 23, 2010, you must apply no later than August 22, 2010; otherwise, you must apply within 30 days of your iPhone 4 purchase. To qualify for this program, you must purchase your iPhone 4 by September 30, 2010.

Also note that if you are claiming a free iPhone 4 case for a second iPhone 4, you’ll need to log on with that phone so that Apple can match up the IMEI and other details of the phone to make sure only 1 case per phone is provided.
